You can help your community flourish and grow by assisting those who are less fortunate. Here at Gnau & Tamez Law Group, LLC, we believe in helping people who are injured get the compensation they deserve, but that is not the only way we strive to help our community. There are thousands in San Diego County who suffer from hunger and poverty, and our attorneys are reaching out to help these neighbors in their time of need.
Facts About Hunger and Poverty in San Diego County
There are around 3.2 million people living in San Diego County. The San Diego Hunger Commission says that 486,000 of those people experience food insecurity. This means one in seven county residents have little or no food available in their households. Even more troubling is the fact that 163,000 of these individuals are children. Thankfully, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is here to help feed the hungry.
The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank
The San Diego Food Bank and its North County Food Bank chapter make up the largest hunger-relief organization in the entire county. Helping an average of 370,000 people a month, the Food Bank distributes 28 million pounds of food. That’s the equivalent of 23.3 million meals! The organization works with over 400 nonprofit community partners that help it distribute food collected at its facilities in Miramar and San Marcos. This loving organization operates through volunteer work, the collection of monetary donations and by hosting food drives.
Reaching Out to Help the Community
The attorneys at Gnau & Tamez Law Group, LLC recently contributed to this community effort by helping at one of San Diego Food Bank’s drives. Our very own Steven Gnau dropped by the Vons on Murphy Canyon to help Food Bank CEO Jim Floros and other Food Bank volunteers collect food items for the holiday season.
This drive was a huge success! It helped collect food for hungry families all across San Diego County, and our law firm is proud to have been a part of that effort. However, there is still a lot that can be done for families all across the county. Visit the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank to learn more about how you can help feed the hungry.
